Entreteixits: Sabers de la Llana

On 26 and 27 November, the ESDI School of Design hosted the “Sabers de la Llana” event, a gathering organised within the framework of the Entreteixits project: Traceability and Reconfiguration of Knowledge in Textile Production in Sabadell, promoted with the support of the Banc Sabadell Foundation.

The initiative brought together textile professionals, artisans, designers and researchers to reflect on the future of wool as a local and strategic resource.

At Hilaturas Jesús Rubio, we took part in the programme on 27 November, within the panel “Craftsmanship, the recovery of local identity”, represented by Pilar Rubio, alongside Laia Aguilà, Mònica Noguero and Anna Armentano, with moderation by Pep Serra.

A meeting to discuss traceability, territory and textile culture

The Entreteixits project places wool at the centre of a discussion that brings together sustainability, heritage and local production. The event aimed to create dialogue between craftsmanship, design, industry and contemporary production models, with particular attention to local wool, including that of the Ripollesa sheep.

The first part of the programme, on 26 November, offered craft workshops led by Laia Aguilà, Barrina Art and Davit Malakyan, focused on manual techniques and creative uses of wool.

27 November was dedicated to talks and round tables at the ESDI Auditorium. The Entreteixits project was presented by Dr Encarna Ruiz, Academic Director of ESDI-URL, followed by the lectures “Sabers de la llana” and “Craftsmanship in the age of Artificial Intelligence”, delivered by Dr Marcela Lucci and Mikki Schindler respectively.

The panel in which Hilaturas Jesús Rubio participated focused on the relationship between craftsmanship, local identity and the recovery of knowledge.

Our interest in taking part in this conversation reflects the ongoing dialogue we maintain with schools, designers, companies and professionals from the textile sector who are interested in the materials and processes that sustain the production chain.

Our thanks

At Hilaturas Jesús Rubio, we would like to thank the organisers for the invitation to participate in Entreteixits and for the opportunity to contribute to a conversation that is part of both the present and the future of textiles in Catalonia

Spaces like this make it possible to share experiences, listen to professionals from different fields and strengthen the connection between tradition, research and contemporary practice.
